What homes are eligible for the Requity Homes program?

With Requity Homes, you can choose almost any home listed for sale publicly or privately in the areas we operate, as long as it meets the requirements below.

What homes are eligible?

  • Home is move in ready and currently habitable. We cannot purchase homes that are not livable
  • Type of home is a freehold single family home or townhouse
  • Home is connected to municipal water and sewerage
  • Home is priced between $150,000 and $600,000, within your approved budget
  • Major systems are in good condition, ideally upgraded within the following timeframes:
    • Furnace or main heat source, including central HVAC, 15 years old or newer
    • Air conditioning system 15 years old or newer
    • Water heater 10 years old or newer
    • Roof 15 years old or newer

Home is located in a community where we operate:

We operate in Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, and Saskatchewan. Your home can be in any community within these provinces that meets the following criteria:

  • Population of 20,000 or more
  • Connected to established municipal services (water and sewerage)

The cities listed below are examples - many other communities qualify:

  • Alberta: Airdrie, Beaumont, Calgary, Edmonton, Grande Prairie, Leduc, Lethbridge, Red Deer, Sherwood Park, Spruce Grove, St. Albert, Stony Plain
  • Manitoba: Brandon, Winnipeg
  • Ontario: North Bay, Sarnia, Sault Ste. Marie, Sudbury, Thunder Bay
  • Saskatchewan: Martensville, Regina, Saskatoon, Warman

Homes we cannot purchase

  • Rural properties
  • Leasehold or modular homes
  • Condominiums or cooperative housing
  • Homes not connected to municipal water and sewerage
  • Homes with known hazardous materials such as vermiculite insulation or asbestos
  • Homes with structural or foundation issues, including post tension cable or wood or post and beam foundations
  • Homes with aluminum wiring that has not been properly copper pigtailed and verified by a licensed electrician
  • Homes with an existing lease in place where the lease extends beyond the closing date

Home description red flags that may not pass our inspection criteria

  • Sold as is
  • Fixer upper
  • Handyman special
  • TLC required
  • Not habitable
  • Listing has no interior photos

Once you are pre-qualified and your home budget is confirmed, you can start viewing homes with one of our partner agents or your own realtor, and we will review each property to confirm it meets our program criteria.
